My name is Harper Royal. I was born and raised on the west side of Los Angeles, and due to my impeccable life choices, I never left.
Now I've got a real career, a wife, a dog, and probably a few kids somewhere on the near horizon. So naturally, I can't think of a better time to start soul searching.
Growing up in a city where everything is at arm's length, and there's always someone to fix whatever breaks, I've become pretty useless.
And lately I've noticed something: the boring has become interesting, and the interesting has become boring. The city doesn't feel like the dream anymore. The hard, dirty work actually feels like it has meaning.
So no, I can't disappear for a couple weeks and go find myself. I have a life. A family. A job.
But I can leave on a Friday.
And be back on Sunday.
